Issue No. 1
Hannah Clarke
Full-stack developer, Leeds, UK
Hannah started out building websites for her dad's furniture shop and never really stopped. After eight years in product teams she went freelance, mostly so she could work closer to the people using what she builds.
She likes small, careful changes over big rewrites, and she writes things down as she goes. Lately she's been curious about how far small teams can get with AI tools, and where a developer still makes the difference.
What she does best
Taking an app that works on a good day and making it work every day. Most of her clients come to her with a Laravel or Supabase backend that grew faster than anyone planned.
Selected projects
Studio booking system
Her longest-running client is a family-run group of yoga studios. What began as a simple class timetable has grown, one request at a time, into the system they use for bookings, memberships, payments and waiting lists. Teachers check their classes on their phones, and the owners finally have one place to see how each studio is doing.
Laravel, Livewire, Stripe
Supplier portal
A small food wholesaler was spending most mornings on the phone, chasing suppliers about deliveries. Hannah built a portal where suppliers see what's been ordered, confirm what they can send and flag anything that's running late. It's a modest app, but the team says it gave them back an hour a day.
Laravel, Postgres
Fitness app launch
A founder had built a workout-tracking app with Lovable and was two weeks from launch. The app looked finished, but any logged-in user could read everyone else's data, and sign-ups failed on some phones. Hannah spent a week on database security and the sign-up flow, then stayed on for the first month after launch.
Supabase, React
Open for work
Takes on: fixes, small builds and ongoing work
Can start: mid-November, two days a week
Works with: Laravel, Supabase, React
Second cup
Before you change anything, write down how the app should behave. Half the bugs I fix come from nobody agreeing on that.
- Tool: TablePlus, for looking at real data before guessing
- Website: Laracasts, still where she goes to learn something new
